KATHMANDU: Registration of delegates for the Nepali Congress (NC) special convention, convened under the leadership of the party’s two General Secretaries, resumed on Monday morning from 8:30 am.
Yubaraj Pandey, coordinator of the Special Convention District Zone and Focal Person Coordination Committee, said the registration process was reopened to accommodate representatives who could not register on Sunday. He said registration will continue until 11 am.
The special convention is scheduled to hold its closed session today, although organizers said the start of the session has been delayed due to technical reasons. The closed session was originally slated to begin at 8 am.
A total of 2,662 delegates had registered by Sunday, marking a significant turnout at the special convention. According to the organizers, 425 delegates registered from Koshi Province, 446 from Madhes, 432 from Bagmati, 296 from Gandaki, 398 from Lumbini, 134 from Karnali and 148 from Sudurpaschim. In addition, 178 delegates registered from the Kathmandu Valley — including Kathmandu, Bhaktapur and Lalitpur — while 195 came from sister organizations, well-wishers and Nepali Congress diaspora committees.
To manage the large number of participants, the special convention organizing group had arranged eight separate registration stalls.
Organizers said further details regarding the start of the closed session will be announced once technical issues are resolved.
