Gagan: Congress is not a party of corpses and slaves, but of the living

KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress General Secretary Gagan Kumar Thapa has stated that the party is not for “slaves or corpses” but belongs to the living.

Addressing the party’s special general convention in Bhrikutimandap, Thapa emphasized that questioning within the party is allowed and necessary, arguing that those who ask questions are also capable of providing answers.

“This is not a rigid organization. Here, questions exist, and they can be asked. Those who avoid asking questions cannot provide answers either,” he said.

Thapa added that it is the act of questioning that keeps the Congress alive. A living Congress, he said, is the one capable of resolving issues through dialogue and scrutiny.

He also highlighted the struggles of party president Sher Bahadur Deuba, noting that the party will always remember his efforts.

However, he questioned whether Deuba had fully honored his commitment to hold the general convention within Mangsir (November–December), implying that the promise was left unfulfilled.
