Nepali Congress special convention camp postpones today’s programs after Homnath Dahal’s demise

KATHMANDU: The faction of the Nepali Congress advocating for the party’s special general convention has announced the postponement of all formal programs scheduled for Saturday.

The decision comes following the demise of former central committee member and former minister Homanath Dahal late Friday night. Issuing a notice, Coordinator of the Special Convention Management Secretariat Manoj Mani Acharya said all programs under the special general convention planned for today have been called off in mourning.

A rally and other activities had been scheduled at Bhrikutimandap in Kathmandu as part of Saturday’s program.

However, programs scheduled for January 11 (Sunday) will continue as planned. The special general convention is set to take place at Bhrikutimandap on Sunday.

In the statement, Acharya said the party was deeply shocked by the passing of Dahal, describing him as a towering personality, a tireless contributor to Nepal’s democratic movement, a former central committee member, former minister and senior journalist.
