KATHMANDU: The price of gold surged by Rs 4,600 per tola in the domestic market on Monday.
According to the Federation of Nepal Gold and Silver Dealers’ Association, fine gold has been fixed at Rs 265,000 per tola for the day. On the previous trading day, gold was traded at Rs 260,400 per tola.
The sharp rise in gold prices in Nepal follows a significant increase in the international market, triggered by the United States’ attack and control actions in Venezuela, which pushed global gold prices higher.
International gold trading remains closed on Saturdays and Sundays. However, the price of gold in the global market has crossed USD 4,400 per ounce, contributing to the surge in the domestic market.
Meanwhile, silver prices have also increased. Silver rose by Rs 185 per tola, reaching Rs 4,685 per tola on Monday, up from Rs 4,500 per tola the previous day, the federation said.
