RASUWA: Rasuwagadhi Hydropower Project, damaged by the Lhende Khola flood on July 8, has resumed operation following repair and maintenance works.
According to the Rasuwagadhi Hydropower Centre, 68 megawatts of electricity is currently being fed into the national transmission system after the repair of two out of three turbines, along with restoration of the intake dam and canal. The project has a total installed capacity of 111 megawatts.
Executive Director of Rasuwagadhi Hydropower Company Satya Ram Jyakhwa said that 37 MW was generated in Mangsir, while an additional 31 MW has been added recently after further repairs.
He added that 43 MW of remaining capacity is yet to come online, with full-capacity generation expected during Jestha–Asar (May–June) once cleaning and remaining maintenance works are completed.
The hydropower centre also noted that electricity generation declines during the dry season due to reduced water flow.
The flood had caused significant damage to equipment and infrastructure, resulting in an estimated loss of Rs 3.51 billion, according to the project.
