Department of Commerce fines two firms



KATHMANDU: The Department of Commerce, Supplies and Consumer Protection (DoCSCP) has inspected 17 firms in Lalitpur and imposed fines on two businesses found to be in violation of consumer protection laws.

According to the Department, Shakti Marbles of Ekantakuna, Lalitpur, has been fined Rs 20,000, while RK Brothers of Hattiban, Lalitpur, has been fined Rs 15,000. The actions were taken under Section 15, Section 38(d), and Section 39(1)(a) of the Consumer Protection Act, 2075 BS.

The Department said that the remaining 15 firms were issued corrective directives. It added that regular market monitoring is being carried out to curb black marketing and ensure market discipline. Inspections will continue in coordination with local administration and public representatives, the department stated.
