Agreement between Rabi, Balendra, and Kulman: key points

KATHMANDU: A unity agreement has been reached between the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) and Ujyalo Nepal Party following a discussion on Monday evening in Kamalpokhari between Kulman Ghising, Rabi Lamichhane, and Kathmandu Mayor Balendra Sah.

Under the agreement, the merged party will retain the name Rastriya Swatantra Party, with the party flag consisting of a blue background and a white circle containing a blue bell, and the election symbol will be the bell. The party’s central office will remain in the Kathmandu Valley.

Rabi Lamichhane will serve as the central chairperson, while Kulman Ghising, DP Aryal, and Swarnim Wagle will hold the positions of vice-chairpersons. The merged party commits to embracing the spirit of the Gen-Z movement against corruption and misgovernance, ensuring that the demands of injured protesters and families of martyrs are properly addressed. The sacrifices of the injured and martyrs will serve as inspiration for the party’s actions.

Ujyalo Nepal’s campaigns and activists will be integrated into RSP’s programs, with youth activists and experienced professionals from Ujyalo Nepal assigned roles based on merit, inclusivity, and public image.

The party will focus on a self-reliant economy, delivery-based politics, meritocracy, zero tolerance for corruption, and good governance, with the long-term goal of transforming Nepal into a respectable middle-income country within the next ten years.

This agreement finalizes the merger, strengthens the organizational structure, and establishes a unified leadership with a clear policy agenda.
