Three domestic airports shut due to adverse weather

KATHMANDU: Three domestic airports have been closed due to adverse weather conditions, according to Kathmandu Airport Office.

Spokesperson of the Kathmandu Airport Office, Rinji Sherpa, said that Bhairahawa, Janakpur and Simara airports are currently shut. Dhangadhi Airport, which was also affected earlier, has resumed operations recently.

Sherpa said regular flights are operating at other airports across the country.

He explained that most airports in the Tarai region are often forced to suspend operations during the morning hours due to dense fog. “Airports in the Tarai usually reopen gradually from the afternoon as visibility improves,” he said.

Flights at Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu are operating normally, Sherpa added.
