Indian national arrested with marijuana



KATHMANDU: An Indian national has been arrested at Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) with around four kilograms of suspected marijuana. According to the Narcotics Control Bureau of Nepal Police, 33-year-old Ranjit Singh was arrested on Sunday.

A joint team from the Tribhuvan International Airport Security Office and the Customs Office apprehended Singh after discovering the contraband in his luggage during inspection. He had arrived in Kathmandu from Bangkok on a Thai Airways flight.

Police also arrested another Indian national, Puneet Sharma, from the international arrivals parking area of the airport, alleging that he had come to collect the drugs.

Both individuals have been handed over to the Narcotics Control Bureau for further investigation and legal action.

In a separate incident, gold and silver jewelry worth around Rs 200,000 was stolen from the room of 40-year-old Robin Bhattarai of Nagarjuna Municipality-2, Dhangadhi Sub-metropolitan City-3, Kailali. Police said a search is underway to identify and arrest those involved in the theft.
