Newar community lauds public holiday on Kijapuja

KATHMANDU: The Nepal Sambat Nhuda National Celebration Committee 1140 has lauded the government’s decision to give a public holiday on Bhaitika celebrated by the Newar community that falls on October 30.

Issuing a statement today, Committee Chairperson Ramesh Maharjan said that the government was positive to address the Committee’s demand for announcing public holiday on Bhaitika celebrated by the Newar community.

“This is a positive step, which has spread a message that all should respect and embrace cultural tradition and rituals,” Maharjan said.
