NPL: Karnali Yaks and Janakpur Bolts face off in final league match

KATHMANDU: The final match of the league stage of the second edition of the Nepal Premier League (NPL) is being played today at the Tribhuvan University International Cricket Stadium in Kirtipur.

Karnali Yaks will take on defending champions Janakpur Bolts at 3:30 pm. Both teams, having earned just two points from six matches, are out of title contention and will play for pride.

Karnali is led by captain Sompal Kami, while Janakpur’s marquee player is Asif Sheikh. The Bolts have rotated captains throughout the tournament following a string of disappointing results.

Sudurpaschim Royals and Biratnagar Kings have already qualified for the qualifiers, while Kathmandu Gurkhas and Lumbini Lions have secured spots in the eliminator round.

All matches of NPL Season 2 are being held at the Tribhuvan University Ground in Kirtipur, with day and night fixtures. The Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) is selling 9,450 tickets per match.

Ticket prices for Saturday’s match are set at Rs 500 for general entry and Rs 1,500 for premium. League-stage matches are priced at Rs 500 (general) and Rs 1,000 (premium), while post-playoff matches are Rs 1,000 (general) and Rs 2,000 (premium).

Eight franchises are competing this season: Janakpur Bolts, Sudurpaschim Royals, Karnali Yaks, Pokhara Avengers, Biratnagar Kings, Chitwan Rhinos, Kathmandu Gorkhas, and Lumbini Lions.
