MYAGDI: The Sayapatri Community Homestay has officially begun operations in Toripani, Beni Municipality–9. The homestay, launched across five households, can accommodate up to 21 guests per day.
Homestay services have been established in the homes of Juna Khatri, Rashmi Chokhal, Sujana Chokhal, Yuva Giri, and Jamuna Shrestha, according to group chairperson Sita Khatri.
“We have started the homestay with the aim of offering visitors a family-like environment,” Khatri said. “As tourism grows, we plan to expand the service to more households.”
Each participating household has constructed separate rooms for guests, complete with beds, mattresses, and toilets. One or two rooms in each home have been designated for visitors, and the mountain ranges are visible directly from the rooms.
Toripani is rich in natural beauty, cultural diversity, biodiversity, and historical significance. The settlement consists of various ethnic communities, allowing visitors to experience their culture, traditional lifestyle, and rural living.
Guests are served local dishes such as Gauriya Gudura rice, millet and buckwheat dumplings and roti, timur chutney, local chicken, goat meat, and dairy products, homestay operator Yuva Giri shared.
“We offer food, vegetables, fruits, and animal products grown here in the village,” he said. “Tourists can also enjoy Yanimaya dances, Panchebaja, and devotional songs.” The homestay operators themselves cultivate vegetables and raise chickens and cattle for guest hospitality.
Toripani is known as a pocket area for the spicy fruit timur, and timur chutney has become a signature item at Sayapatri Homestay. Visitors are given koseli—timur, soybeans, and bhago—to take home, homestay operator Jamuna Shrestha added. The cost of a one-night stay is Rs 1,500.
Eco Himalaya has supported the homestay through training and infrastructure. According to the organization’s director, Narayan Dhakal, each participating household received materials worth Rs 70,000, while the group as a whole received Rs 200,000. The organization is also assisting in the expansion, quality enhancement, and marketing of Sichuan pepper cultivation in the area.
Situated at an altitude of 1,750 meters, Toripani offers stunning views of the Dhaulagiri, Annapurna, Machhapuchhre, and Manapathi mountain ranges, especially during sunrise and sunset. Located nine kilometers north of Beni Bazaar, the village is accessible via a 30-minute drive.
A five-kilometer blacktopped road connects Beni to Kirakhor via Arthunge and Jamunakharka. Of the remaining route, about two kilometers from Kirakhor to Neptechaur are being blacktopped, and an additional two kilometers toward Toripani are being graveled.
Nearby attractions include the popular tourist destination Todke, the historical Dholthan Durbar, and several religious sites. Dholthan once served as a monsoon-season capital during the Baise-Chaubise era, and remnants of the palace remain.
Toripani also serves as a gateway to Todke—accessible by road or hiking—and lies near the Galeshwor Shivalaya Temple, regarded as the entry point to Muktikshetra.
