5 dead in Mexico plane crash

MEXICO CITY: At least five people died after a small plane crashed Wednesday in the western Mexican state of Michoacan, local media reported.

The state prosecutor told reporters that the number of fatalities was a preliminary figure in the crash in Las Juntas, a community in the Madero town, noting that the incident is still under investigation.

The plane was believed to be en route from the Durango State to the port of Acapulco, Guerrero State, Mexican newspaper El Universal reported, citing local public security department. Video footage shared by Mexican newspaper El Financiero on social media showed that half of the aircraft appeared soaked in a river.
