BAITADI: The trauma center in Baitadi has yet to come into operation, leaving the structures built in Patan Municipality–8, Khodpe, unused.
According to Patan Municipality Health Branch Chief Madan Singh Mahara, the center remains non-operational due to a lack of manpower and essential equipment. The trauma center was established to provide emergency treatment to victims of road accidents and other disasters.
“Although the physical infrastructure is ready, we have not been able to operate the center due to the absence of necessary staff and equipment. The municipality is not in a position to independently hire personnel and procure equipment,” Mahara said. “We are requesting support from the provincial and federal governments.”
The trauma center building was constructed in 2079 BS with a combined investment of Rs 60 million, including Rs 1 million from the local level and Rs 5 million from the federal government.
The center currently has a spinal bagboard, an AED machine, an oxygen concentrator, a patient monitor, and 15 bed sheets. Water and electricity connections were installed a year ago. Health Branch Chief Mahara said the center could begin operation if an X-ray machine and specialist doctors were provided.
