KATHMANDU: United Arab Emirates (UAE) Ambassador to Nepal, Abdulla Saeed Mubarak Jarwan Al Shamsi, paid a courtesy call on Vice President Ramsahay Prasad Yadav at the Vice President’s Office in Lainchaur today.
According to the Vice President’s Secretariat, the meeting included discussions on bilateral relations, high-level visits, labour cooperation, economic engagement and multilateral coordination between Nepal and the UAE. Vice President Yadav noted that since the establishment of diplomatic ties in 1977, relations between the two countries have continued to strengthen on the basis of mutual trust, friendship and cooperation.
Ambassador Shamsi recalled the visit of UAE Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, to Nepal in April 2025, describing it as a significant milestone in bilateral relations. He expressed confidence that such exchanges would further reinforce cooperation between the two nations.
Vice President Yadav thanked the UAE government for granting amnesty to 286 Nepali nationals during the month of Ramadan this year and appreciated the employment opportunities provided to Nepali workers. He said the demand for semi-skilled and skilled Nepali workers in information technology, engineering, health services, and hotel management was expected to rise, and reaffirmed Nepal’s commitment to ensuring safe, dignified and respectable foreign employment.
Highlighting the potential for expanding economic cooperation, Vice President Yadav said Nepal was prepared to welcome foreign investment in priority sectors, including infrastructure, agriculture, health, clean energy, tourism and drinking water. He also stated that necessary legal and institutional arrangements had already been put in place to facilitate investment.
Ambassador Shamsi expressed the UAE’s goodwill toward Nepal and Nepalis, and thanked Nepal for its cooperation at international forums. He said the UAE was ready to establish skill-development centres in Nepal for Nepali migrant workers and expressed interest in enhancing collaboration in energy, technology and other sectors.
