RSP urges govt to ensure political parties’ freedom after UML leaders’ visit disrupted

KATHMANDU: The Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) has urged the government to ensure that political parties can freely carry out their activities following the disruption of CPN-UML leaders’ visit to Bara.

Spokesperson Manish Jha expressed concern over the incident at Simara Airport, where General Secretary Shankar Pokhrel and Politburo member Mahesh Basnet were prevented from attending a party program due to protests by a group identifying as “Gen-Z.”

“Political parties must be allowed to organize public programs, and the government should provide the necessary security,” Jha said, adding that such freedom is crucial, especially with elections approaching.

He added that the incident is highly sensitive and called on authorities to address the situation seriously to safeguard the democratic process.
