KATHMANDU: Kathmandu Gorkhas secured a five-wicket victory over defending champions Janakpur Bolts in the opening match of Nepal Premier League Season 2.
After winning the toss and opting to bat second, Kathmandu successfully chased Janakpur’s target of 131 runs, completing the chase in 18 overs with five wickets in hand. Kathmandu posted 132 runs to begin their NPL Season 2 campaign with a convincing victory.
Ben Charlesworth was the top scorer for Kathmandu, contributing a crucial 46 runs off 23 balls, including five fours and three sixes.
The opening pair of Ben Charlesworth and Akash Tripathi put up a solid 70-run stand before Sanjay Krishnamurthy broke the partnership. Sanjay dismissed Charlesworth as the first wicket, with John Simpson taking the catch.
