Toshima Karki signals possible exit from RSP

KATHMANDU: Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) leader Toshima Karki has intensified her criticism of the party leadership, hinting that she may leave the party if internal reform continues to be resisted.

In a Facebook post, Karki accused the establishment faction of targeting those who advocate for party restructuring, saying the leadership failed to respect majority voices and procedural norms. She also drew a comparison to former prime minister KP Sharma Oli, remarking that a party cannot be run through ego and pressure.

Karki also blamed the leadership for the departure of leaders such as Santosh Pariyar and Sumana Shrestha, claiming that their exit reflected deeper issues within the organisation.

She wrote that differing opinions and reform proposals should not lead to “media trials” or personal attacks. According to her, when a leader’s dignity is repeatedly undermined, they eventually choose to walk away.

Reiterating that the country cannot depend on a single individual, Karki stressed the need for collaboration among capable and principled people to strengthen both the party and the nation.
