16th international conference on orthodontics concludes in Dharan



DHARAN: The 16th International Conference on Orthodontics was held in Dharan.

The event was jointly organized by the Orthodontic and Dentofacial Orthopedic Association of Nepal (ODAN) and the BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences.

The conference began on last Friday coincided today. This year, the event was significant as it attracted 11 Indian and 90 Nepali doctors, noted Dr. Prabhat Ranjan Pokhrel, chair of the organizing committee.

During the conference, experts presented papers and exchanged insights on innovative techniques, research outcomes, and experiences in orthodontics and dentofacial orthopedics.

On Friday, a workshop was held where doctors shared their practical experiences, while Saturday (today) was dedicated to the presentation of 11 research papers.

The conference highlighted advanced technologies such as clear aligners, temporary anchorage devices, and digital treatment planning.

It is stated the materials that are not commonly utilized in India and new methods for correcting misaligned teeth were also topics of discussion in the workshop. Special presentations were made by Indian experts Prof Dr. Abhishek Ghosh, Prof Dr. Abhishek Gupta, and Dr. Abhiram Cherukuri.

Dr. Pokharel underscored that orthodontic treatment improves facial aesthetics, dental health, and chewing function by addressing irregularities in teeth and jaws, stressing the significance of such conferences in swiftly introducing new technologies and treatment methods in Nepal.

The programme was attended by Prof Dr. Bikram Shrestha, Vice Chancellor of BPKIHS, along with medical professionals from both country.
