Govt categorizes Gen-Z protest injuries into four types

KATHMANDU: The government has classified injuries sustained during the Gen-Z protests into four categories: critical, severe, moderate, and minor, officials said.

Dr. Prakash Budhathoki, spokesperson for the Ministry of Health and Population, stated that a 10-member technical committee, chaired by Dr. Saroj Sharma, head of the Ministry’s Quality, Measurement, and Regulation Department, carried out the classification based on the nature and severity of injuries.

According to the ministry, 23 individuals were categorized as critically injured, 21 as severely injured, 23 as moderately injured, and 11 as minor cases. All classified individuals will be issued identification cards reflecting their injury type.

The government has instructed all District Administration Offices to complete the classification process.

Dr. Budhathoki added that a total of 2,572 people were injured during the protests on September 8 and 9, with 11 still receiving hospital treatment.
