KATHMANDU: Coordinator of the Nepali Communist Party, Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’, has urged all stakeholders to focus on completing the party’s unification process and not be misled by the list submitted to the Election Commission for registration.
In a statement issued by his secretariat, Prachanda clarified that the submitted list, provided for party registration purposes, reflected pre-unification central committee members. To meet the legal requirement of one-third female representation, 13 women central members present at the party headquarters were added.
The secretariat said this does not represent a separate structure, and the party’s full organizational framework will be finalized in line with its constitution.
Prachanda said that apart from the positions of Coordinator and Co-Coordinator, all other posts and committees will be formed through mutual agreement, with preparations underway to finalize the party’s full structure, including the central committee.
The unification process brings together CPN (Maoist Centre), CPN (Unified Socialist), and over a dozen other leftist groups. With general elections scheduled for March 5, 2026, the Election Commission has set a deadline of November 16 for all parties to register and obtain certification.
