Gen-Z groups to submit joint charter of demands to PM Karki today



KATHMANDU: The Gen-Z groups leading recent protests are set to submit their joint charter of demands to Prime Minister Sushila Karki today.

According to Amit Khanal, a leading member of the Gen-Z Movement of Alliance, the groups will hand over the document to the Prime Minister after 11 AM on Thursday.

Khanal said three Gen-Z collectives, Gen-Z Movement of Alliance, The Council of Gen-Z, and Gen-Z Font, along with representatives of the injured protesters and families of those killed, have reached a consensus and finalized the charter. The groups have been working on the document for the past week.

He added that once the charter is submitted, they expect the Prime Minister to take concrete steps both to address their demands and to institutionalize the movement.

“We worked for a long time and prepared this charter together. About 90 percent of Gen-Z voices and participation are reflected in it,” Khanal told Khabarhub, noting that a few members could not attend despite being invited.

Khanal said multiple rounds of discussions were required to finalize the document. He reiterated that no further activities or decisions would move forward until the movement is formally institutionalized.
