KATHMANDU: The Nepal Communist Party (NCP) led by Netra Bikram Chand ‘Biplav’ has announced its withdrawal from the Socialist Front, an alliance formed with the CPN (Maoist Center) and other parties.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, General Secretary Chand said the four-party Socialist Front has become irrelevant in the current political context.
“The Front was formed with the aim of defending national sovereignty, advancing state transformation, and fighting corruption and exploitation,” the statement read. “However, it could not progress as expected.”
Chand added that the emergence of new alliances and political realignments following the Gen-Z movement has altered the national political landscape.
“Since the three other member parties of the Socialist Front have already united to form the new Nepal Communist Party, the existence of the Front in its current form has lost its rationale,” Chand concluded in his statement.
