Home Minister Aryal vows tough legal action against infiltrators in Gen-Z movement

KATHMANDU: Home Minister Om Prakash Aryal has said that those who infiltrated the Gen-Z movement and caused significant damage to the country will face strict legal action.

Speaking at the National Economic Dialogue organized by the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI) in Kathmandu on Saturday, Minister Aryal said the infiltration during the Gen-Z movement led to major disruptions and that the government has already begun legal proceedings against those involved.

“So far, 380 individuals have been arrested, and cases have been filed against 150 of them,” he said, adding that 710 weapons have been recovered since the movement. “Out of 14,549 escaped prisoners, 9,521 have already been brought back to jail,” he informed. The government, he said, will soon launch a special operation to recover the remaining weapons and fugitives.

Minister Aryal emphasized that the rule of law has been reinstated and assured the business community that the government is now more constructive and proactive in ensuring their safety. “There is no longer a need to please ministers or leaders, the government now operates with a commitment to transparency and good governance,” he said.

He also noted that the Gen-Z movement emerged due to a lack of good governance, warning that failure to deliver effective governance could risk renewed instability. “The government is fully alert to prevent such a situation,” Aryal said.
