Nepal exports frozen French fries to the US for the first time

BHAIRAHAWA: Frozen French fries worth Rs 5.48 million have been exported to the United States for the first time through the Bhairahawa Customs Office.

According to the office, two containers, totaling 43,520 kilograms, of frozen French fries produced by First Choice Foods Pvt. Ltd., based in Rupandehi, were shipped to Genco LLC, a company based in the United States.

In a statement, the Bhairahawa Customs Office said the entry of Nepali-produced food items into a highly competitive market like the US marks a significant achievement for the country’s industrial development. The move is expected to contribute to foreign currency earnings and promote entrepreneurship in Nepal.

The office expressed confidence that the entry of Nepali French fries into the US market will pave the way for other Nepali products to expand their reach in international markets.

It also reaffirmed its commitment to continuously improve export-related services, information access, and procedural efficiency to promote exports.

The Bhairahawa Customs Office further stated that it will prioritize strengthening collaboration with the private sector, producers, transporters, and quality control agencies to enhance Nepal’s export potential.
