KATHMANDU: Prime Minister Sushila Karki on Monday convened a meeting with all ministers and secretaries at the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers’ Office in Singh Durbar to review the progress of ministries and government agencies under the current interim administration.
During the session, secretaries presented reports on ongoing initiatives and performance, while the Prime Minister issued detailed instructions to ensure effective governance, transparency, and improved service delivery.
Prime Minister Karki emphasized that government reforms must be tangible and directly impact citizens. She instructed ministries to revise their action plans and strengthen inter-ministerial coordination to ensure efficiency.
The directives covered multiple areas, including anti-corruption measures, good governance, fiscal discipline, boosting private sector confidence, transparent employee transfer and promotion systems, and the reconstruction of structures damaged during recent unrest. She also stressed the need for ministries to prepare blueprints for reform and service improvements based on lessons from the September 8 and 9 protests, ensuring that the public experiences real benefits from government initiatives.
In addition, the Prime Minister instructed officials to maintain strict oversight of public expenditure, enforce laws against criminal activities without compromise, and enhance public trust and morale among civil servants and security personnel.
Ministries were asked to improve workforce management at provincial levels, enhance coordination among the three tiers of government, and ensure smooth preparation for upcoming elections through active engagement with the Election Commission, security agencies, political parties, and other stakeholders.
Prime Minister Karki highlighted the responsibility of permanent government officials to leverage their expertise and experience to ensure good governance, development, and a corruption-free administration.
She highlighted the importance of strengthening administrative efficiency, removing unnecessary structures, and fostering productivity within public institutions. The meeting reflects the government’s focus on delivering reforms that have a direct, positive impact on citizens while ensuring coordination across federal, provincial, and local levels.
