Hetauda-Kathmandu road reopens after landslide clearance

HETAUDA: Traffic on the Hetauda-Kathmandu road has resumed after large rocks that fell from above were cleared.

The road had been completely blocked since 6 am this morning in Bakaiya Rural Municipality-11, Makawanpur, due to rocks dislodged by incessant rain. Deputy Superintendent of Police Pushkar Bogati, spokesperson for the District Police Office, Makawanpur, confirmed that the road is now open.

However, the Hetauda-Kulekhani-Sisneri-Dakshikali road, another route connecting Hetauda and Kathmandu, remains closed.

This road had been blocked since Saturday evening following a landslide in Jyamire, Indrasarobar Rural Municipality-3, Makawanpur. Vehicles traveling between Kathmandu and Hetauda were forced to stop midway due to the obstruction.

Deputy Superintendent Bogati added that although clearance work is ongoing, wet soil and falling rocks continue to pose challenges for reopening the road fully.
