PM’s Secretariat refutes reports of pressure from Balen Shah to remove Home Minister Aryal

KATHMANDU: The private secretariat of Prime Minister Sushila Karki has dismissed media reports claiming that Kathmandu Metropolitan City Mayor Balen Shah was pressuring the Prime Minister to remove Home Minister Om Prakash Aryal.

In a statement issued today, the secretariat clarified that the appointment or removal of a minister falls solely under the constitutional prerogative of the Prime Minister and cannot be influenced by external pressure or political lobbying.

The statement further noted that the current government was formed in line with the public mandate expressed through the Gen-Z movement; stressing Minister Aryal has been working tirelessly to maintain law and order, boost the morale of security agencies, and create a conducive environment for the upcoming elections.

The secretariat also urged all parties and the public not to believe or spread unfounded rumors, especially during the current sensitive political situation.
