Westerly winds, Cyclone Montha influencing Nepal’s weather



KATHMANDU: With overcast skies, light rainfall has been occurring in some parts of Kathmandu since early this morning.

According to the Weather Forecasting Division, the weather is expected to remain mostly cloudy in Koshi, Madhesh, Bagmati, Gandaki, and Lumbini provinces, as well as in the hilly regions across the country. The Tarai region is likely to experience generally cloudy conditions.

There are chances of moderate rainfall at many places in Koshi, Madhesh, and Bagmati provinces, and at a few locations in the hilly and mountainous areas of Gandaki and Lumbini provinces. Light rainfall is also likely at a few places in Karnali and Sudurpaschim provinces.

In addition, moderate snowfall is expected at some places in the high hilly and mountainous regions of the country.

The Division stated that the country is currently under the influence of westerly winds, with a partial impact of Cyclone Montha formed in the Bay of Bengal, and the low-pressure system in the Arabian Sea further contributing to the current weather conditions.
