Woman dies, nine injured in bus-car collision in Chitwan



CHITWAN: A woman on board a bus died, and nine others were injured in a collision between a bus and a car in Tikauli Jungle, Ratnanagar Municipality-9, Chitwan, last evening.

The District Police Office, Chitwan, stated that the accident occurred when a minibus (Na 3 Kha 9986) traveling towards Tandi from Narayangadh collided head-on with a car (Ba Ba 5008) coming from the opposite direction.

According to DSP Rabindra Khanal, the office’s information officer, 33-year-old Puja Subedi of Ratnanagar-10, who was on the bus, died during treatment at Bharatpur Hospital.

Nine people, including the bus driver, were injured in the accident and are currently being treated at Chitwan Medical College in Bharatpur, the police said.

Among the injured, the bus driver, 36-year-old Suraj Kandel of Ratnanagar-2, is in moderate condition.

The driver of the car involved in the accident, 44-year-old Subash Bhandari of Kathmandu Tarkeshwor Municipality-10, has been taken into police custody. Both vehicles have been seized for investigation, according to the police.
