KATHMANDU: Nepal clinched a thrilling one-run victory over the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in the ICC T20 World Cup Asia and East Asia-Pacific Qualifier Super Six stage.
Chasing a 141-run target set by Nepal, UAE managed to score 139 runs for the loss of nine wickets in their allotted 20 overs. Despite a fine half-century from Alishan Sharafu, who scored 58 runs, UAE fell just short. Dhruv Parashar added 38 runs to the total.
Earlier, Nepal opted to bat first after winning the toss and posted 140 runs for six wickets in 20 overs, led by opener Aasif Sheikh’s half-century. Sheikh made 51 runs off 47 balls, while Kushal Bhurtel scored 28 and captain Rohit Paudel contributed 20 runs. Gulshan Jha hit 14 runs off five balls before being dismissed.
Nepal had made a promising start, reaching 73 runs for one wicket in the first 10 overs, but their scoring rate slowed in the latter half of the innings.
For UAE, Junaid Siddique, Muhammad Rohid, Zahid Ali, Dhruv Parashar, Harshit Kaushik, and Haider Ali took one wicket each.
