Election Commission approves schedule for March 5 polls



KATHMANDU: The Election Commission has approved the official schedule for the upcoming House of Representatives election to be held on Fagun 21 (March 5).

Issuing a statement on Monday, the Commission announced that the approved timetable outlines all key procedures, from party registration to vote counting, which will be conducted in a phased and systematic manner.

The Commission said it aims to ensure a free, fair, and transparent election through timely preparations and effective coordination among stakeholders.

According to the schedule, election offices for the first-past-the-post system will be established from Magh 2 (Jan 15). The campaign period will run from Falgun 3 to 18 (Feb 15–March 2), followed by a campaign silence period before polling day.

Voting will take place on Fagun 21 (March 5) from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., the Commission said.
