KATHMANDU: With several sections of the BP Highway blocked due to landslides and river erosion, vehicles are being diverted to Kathmandu through alternative routes.
Authorities said the temporary road built along the highway was recently washed away by floods, forcing vehicles to be rerouted through Dolakha Charikot to reach the capital. In Kavre’s Roshi Rural Municipality, sections of the highway were damaged by the Roshi River, while roads in Namobuddha and Dhulikhel areas have also collapsed or been swept away.
As the BP Highway is expected to remain closed for some time, traffic has been redirected through the Khurkot–Manthali–Charikot–Khandichaur route as an alternative connection.
