Saptakoshi River flow exceeds alert level

Residents urged to remain vigilant until evening



KATHMANDU: The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology has issued a warning urging residents in flood-prone areas near the Saptakoshi River in Chatara, Sunsari, to remain extremely cautious, as the river has crossed the alert level.

In a notice issued today morning, the Department stated that due to ongoing heavy rainfall, the water level in the Koshi River continues to rise and is expected to remain high throughout the day.

“The water flow in the Saptakoshi at Chatara has exceeded the alert level. As heavy rainfall is ongoing and expected to continue until this evening, residents in flood- and inundation-prone areas are advised to maintain a high level of alertness,” the notice read.

The Department has urged people to stay informed, follow official updates, and avoid areas at risk of flooding or waterlogging.
