Landslides, floods block highways at six locations

KATHMANDU: Continuous rainfall, floods, and landslides have blocked highways at six different locations across the country, disrupting transportation and cutting off access in several areas.

According to Nepal Police Spokesperson Deputy Inspector General Binod Ghimire, vehicular movement has come to a complete halt along key sections of highways in Sankhuwasabha, Sindhupalchowk, and Rasuwa districts.

The Koshi Highway has been completely obstructed at Bhotekhola Rural Municipality-4 and Makalu Rural Municipality-3 in Sankhuwasabha due to relentless rainfall, he said.

Likewise, a landslide has blocked the Pasang Lhamu road section at Gosainkunda Municipality-2 in Rasuwa district. Efforts are currently underway to clear the debris and restore traffic.

In Sindhupalchowk, the Araniko Highway has been blocked at two locations: Sunkoshi Rural Municipality-7 and Bhotekoshi Rural Municipality, bringing vehicular movement to a standstill.

Authorities are coordinating efforts to reopen the affected roads and ensure safe passage for travelers.
