Landslide blocks Mahakali Highway

BAITADI: The Mahakali Highway has been blocked following a landslide triggered by continuous rainfall.

According to local resident Sher Singh Karki, the landslide occurred this morning at Sajadhar in Salsena, Dogadakedar Rural Municipality-5, along the highway.

“A massive landslide fell from above the road after the rainfall,” he said. “Traffic has been completely halted.”

As a result, road connectivity to Mahendranagar, Dhangadhi, Kathmandu, and the district headquarters has been cut off, leaving passengers stranded along the route.

Meanwhile, the Jayaprithvi Highway, which had also been blocked due to a landslide at Musyakhan along the Khodpe–Bajhang road section, has now been cleared and reopened, according to District Police Inspector Balram Pandey.
