Remittance inflow crosses Rs 177 billion in first month of current fiscal year



KATHMANDU: Remittance inflows reached Rs 177.41 billion in the first month of the current fiscal year 2082/83, marking a 29.9% increase compared to the same period last year, according to Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB).

In the same month of the previous fiscal year, remittance inflows had risen by 17.7% to Rs 136.60 billion.

The data was published in NRB’s report, Current Macroeconomic and Financial Situation of Nepal, based on one-month data ending mid-August.

Similarly, net secondary income (net transfers) stood at Rs 193.85 billion in the first month of the current fiscal year, up from Rs 148.08 billion during the corresponding period last year.

In terms of labor migration, 44,466 Nepali workers received first-time approvals for foreign employment, while 23,644 received re-entry approvals.

In the same period last year, the figures were 36,928 and 22,647 respectively, indicating a rise in both new and repeat labor migration.
