KATHMANDU: National Assembly Chair Narayan Prasad Dahal and Speaker of the House of Representatives Dev Raj Ghimire on Friday expressed condolences to those who lost their lives during the recent Gen Z-led protests and wished the injured a swift recovery.
In a joint statement, the two leaders urged state agencies to ensure uninterrupted medical treatment for the wounded.
Parliament said it was shocked by the irreparable damage caused by arson and vandalism, including at the Federal Parliament Building in Baneshwor, the Parliament Secretariat in Singha Durbar, and across other parts of the country.
The legislature strongly condemned the attacks on government offices, media houses, businesses, and public property.
Reaffirming that the crisis must be addressed through the constitutional process, Parliament called on all parties to safeguard popular sovereignty, civil liberties, territorial integrity, national unity, and independence.
“The demands raised by the protestors must be addressed,” the statement concluded, “so that we can work together for a stronger, more prosperous, and more resilient democracy.”
