Nepali Army arrest 192 escaped prisoners



KATHMANDU: The Nepali Army has released a security update detailing recent developments across the country. According to the report issued Thursday, 192 prisoners attempting to escape from the district jail in Rajbiraj, Saptari, have been apprehended.

During the operation, seven individuals attempting to cross into India were detained by the Indian Border Security Force and handed over to the Nepali Army. One prisoner was captured by locals and surrendered to the local police station, while twelve others voluntarily returned to the jail.

Meanwhile, in Ramechhap, clashes erupted at the district jail when inmates demanded release. Security personnel fired shots to control the situation, resulting in the deaths of two prisoners and injuries to twelve others.

The Army also reported that a suspicious object found in Banepa-9, Naya Basti in Kavrepalanchok, was safely destroyed. Across various locations, the Army has recovered a total of 94 weapons so far.

Authorities continue to maintain heightened security and monitor sensitive areas closely.
