Three prisoners killed, 13 injured in Ramechhap Jail



RAMECHHAP: Three inmates were killed and 13 others injured after a violent clash broke out between prisoners and security personnel at the Ramechhap District Prison on Thursday morning.

According to authorities, the confrontation began when inmates attempted to break out of the facility by causing an explosion using a gas cylinder. Security forces opened fire while trying to regain control, resulting in the fatalities.

The injured have been taken to Ramechhap District Hospital for treatment.

Police said more than 330 inmates are currently housed in the district prison, which is under the protection of all three security agencies, including the Nepali Army.

Officials stated that security has been tightened in and around the prison following the incident.
