UN Secretary-General Guterres calls for restraint and dialogue in Nepal



KATHMANDU: United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres has expressed concern over the ongoing unrest in Nepal and called for measures to prevent further violence.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Guterres said he is closely following the situation and expressed deep sadness over the loss of life. He urged authorities and all parties to exercise restraint and engage in dialogue to find a constructive way forward.

“The protests must take place in a peaceful manner, respecting life and property,” Guterres wrote, emphasizing adherence to human rights law and the protection of civilians.
