KATHMANDU: A video circulating on social media on Tuesday claimed that Nepali Congress General Secretary Gagan Kumar Thapa was beaten during the ongoing protests. However, the individual seen being assaulted in the footage does not resemble Thapa.
Thapa’s secretariat issued a statement clarifying that no such attack took place. “The General Secretary is safe. There has been no assault,” the statement said.
Earlier in the day, protesters angered by the government’s crackdown on the “Gen Z” demonstrations set fire to Thapa’s residence in Ratopul.
