Curfew imposed in three areas of Lalitpur

LALITPUR: The Lalitpur District Administration Office has imposed a curfew in select areas of Lalitpur Metropolitan City from 7:00 AM to 12:00 midnight today.

The order, issued by Chief District Officer Suman Ghimire, has been enforced under Section 6(a) of the Local Administration Act, 2028, in a bid to maintain peace and security and to prevent any potential disturbances.

The curfew restricts all forms of public movement, gatherings, rallies, demonstrations, meetings, and encirclement activities within the designated zones, which include parts of Wards No. 2, 4, 9, 18, and 25 of Lalitpur Metropolitan City.

In the Bhaisepati area, which includes Wards 4, 18, and 25, the curfew zone extends from the road leading from Bhaisepati to Bungmati in the east to the CG Housing and Chobhar Galchhi road in the west.

The northern boundary is marked by the Bishnu Devi Temple below the Gayatri Petrol Pump, while the southern limit reaches the slope leading to Itani.

In the Sanepa area under Ward 2, the restricted zone stretches from the paved road between Sanepa Chowk and Indrayani Temple in the east to the Bagmati Corridor road from Balkhu Bridge to Manmohan Park in the west.

The northern boundary follows the Ring Road service lane from Balkhu Bridge to Sanepa Chowk, while the southern perimeter includes the road from Indrayani Temple leading down to the Bagmati Corridor.

In Chyasal under Ward 9, the curfew area is defined by the suspension bridge of the Manohara Khola Corridor in the east, the Chyasal Stadium in the west, the Manohara Khola in the north, and the road leading to Mal Pokhari in the south.

CDO Ghimire stated that the curfew was issued as a precautionary measure to ensure public order and to prevent any possible untoward incidents during a period of heightened tension.
