Gen-Z movement demands PM Oli’s resignation

KATHMANDU: In response to the government’s violent crackdown on protests, the Gen-Z movement has called for the resignation of Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli and the formation of an alternative government.

At least 14 people have died as a result of police firing during the demonstrations. The Gen-Z movement has declared that the government has lost its legitimacy following such brutal repression.

In a statement issued by the group, they said: “With this ruthless repression, the legitimacy of the current government has completely ended. As millions from the new generation have taken to the streets, it has become imperative to pave the way for an alternative government. Therefore, we clearly ask the Prime Minister to resign immediately.”

The statement also calls on security forces to immediately cease all repressive actions, facilitate peaceful demonstrations, and respect the fundamental rights of citizens.
