BARA: At least four people have died in tiger attacks in Bara district over the past month, officials said.
According to Superintendent of Police Santosh Tamang, the victims include 55-year-old Chewang Lama from Jeetpur Simara Sub-Metropolitan City-1, 55-year-old Krishna Prasad Sharma from Jeetpur Simara-2, Ramesh Karki from the same ward, and 55-year-old Chandra Bahadur Bhulan from Manahari Rural Municipality in Makwanpur.
The latest attack occurred on Sunday in the Pragatisheel Community Forest in Jeetpur Simara-4. Deputy Superintendent of Police Bed Prakash Joshi said Lama was attacked by a tiger while collecting mushrooms in the forest. Locals who found the body alerted authorities.
Ramchandra Khatiwada, Senior Conservation Officer at Parsa National Park, said a dart team from Chitwan has been deployed to capture the tiger. Two elephants from Sauraha are also being used to track the animal, with a veterinary team ready to tranquilize it if necessary.
