‘Heartfulness’ needed to strengthen Nepali Congress: NC Vice President Gurung



BANKE: Nepali Congress (NC) Vice President Dhanraj Gurung has emphasized the need for “heartfulness” – warmth and mutual respect – among party leaders and cadres to strengthen the party from the grassroots level.

Speaking at the inauguration of a two-day district-level training program organized by the Nepali Congress Banke Training Branch in Nepalgunj today, Gurung said that a lack of warmth and internal unity has negatively affected the party’s performance in general elections. He expressed confidence that such training programs would help foster greater unity and commitment among the party’s base.

“Internal collaboration and coordination, built on a sense of warmth, are essential within the Congress,” Gurung said. “We’ve faced setbacks in elections because this has been lacking. These training sessions are crucial to rekindle that spirit.”

He further highlighted the importance of equipping cadres with the knowledge and skills to defend and promote the party’s principles. “This kind of training is necessary to empower grassroots members to articulate the party’s ideology. It will ultimately make the party stronger and more people-oriented.”

Stressing the importance of working in harmony, Gurung said, “We must move forward in collaboration with the people. The political highway requires everyone to be on board. Without unity and coordination—both within and outside the party—we cannot reach our destination.”

Congress Banke District President Narayan Prasad Gaudel informed that the party has been conducting training programs for municipal and ward-level leaders to consolidate the party’s organizational strength. “We are committed to building a stronger Congress through systematic training at all levels,” he said.

Also present at the program were Nepali Congress Lumbini Province President Amar Singh Pun, Lumbini Province Training Department Chief Bhuwan Prasad Shrestha, and other leaders. The event was chaired by Banke Training Branch Chief Gopal Prasad Adhikari.
