KATHMANDU: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli is scheduled to address the House of Representatives today (Friday), ahead of his official visit to China.
Speaker Devraj Ghimire informed the chief whips of major parties about the address during a meeting held at Singha Durbar on Thursday. The Prime Minister is expected to brief lawmakers on the objectives of his upcoming trip.
During the meeting, chief whips also finalized the House calendar for the next 15 days. According to UML Chief Whip Mahesh Bartuala, the House will pass the Land Bill on Friday and forward it to the National Assembly.
The Citizenship Bill is set to be endorsed on September 3, while the Constitutional Council Bill—returned by the President’s Office—will also be discussed and passed on the same day.
Bartuala added that the Civil Service Bill, if endorsed by the National Assembly, will be passed on September 4, and the School Education Bill on September 11.
Maoist Centre Chief Whip Hitraj Pandey confirmed that the Prime Minister’s address will take place on Friday, followed by deliberations on the scheduled legislative agenda. The House is set to convene on September 3, 4, 10, 11, and 12.
