Will knock on every door of justice: Nikita Poudel

KATHMANDU: Nikita Poudel, wife of Rastriya Swatantra Party chair Rabi Lamichhane, on Monday filed an appeal at the Butwal bench of the High Court Dang after the Rupandehi District Court refused to release him on a bank guarantee worth Rs 274.8 million.

High Court information officer Ram Bahadur Kunwar confirmed the petition was lodged against the district court’s order of July 26, which kept the former home minister in custody despite his wife depositing the full amount demanded as bail.

Soon after registering the appeal, Poudel issued a strong public statement on social media, declaring her determination to pursue justice: “I will keep knocking on every door of justice, both inside and outside the country, as permitted by the Constitution and the law.”

She accused the government of abusing state power to frame her husband under false charges, while also voicing concern for his safety in custody. “This is not just a legal battle, it is about resisting the misuse of power,” she wrote.

Lamichhane, accused in the multi-billion-rupee Supreme Cooperative fraud case, faces charges including organized crime and money laundering. He remains in judicial custody despite his wife’s bail appeal.
