Vietnamese Vice President arrives in Nepal



KATHMANDU: Vice President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, Vo Thi Anh Xuan, arrived in Nepal on Saturday for a three-day official visit at the friendly invitation of Vice President Ram Sahaya Prasad Yadav.

At Tribhuvan International Airport’s VIP lounge, Vice President Xuan was received by Foreign Minister Dr. Arzu Rana Deuba and Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Badri Prasad Pandey. Senior government officials, security chiefs, and other dignitaries were also present. She was presented a Guard of Honor by the Nepal Army.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Minister Dr. Rana is scheduled to pay a courtesy call on Vice President Xuan later today. She will remain in Nepal until August 25.

This marks the first-ever high-level visit from Vietnam to Nepal. On August 24, Vice President Yadav and his Vietnamese counterpart will hold delegation-level bilateral talks in Kathmandu.

During her stay, Vice President Xuan will also pay separate courtesy calls on President Ram Chandra Paudel and Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli.

The visit carries special significance as it coincides with the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Nepal and Vietnam. Vice President Xuan will return home on August 25.
