Dengue cases rise to 3,247 nationwide

KATHMANDU: Dengue infections are continuing to rise across Nepal, with 211 new cases reported in the past week alone.

According to the Epidemiology and Disease Control Division (EDCD), the total number of dengue cases has now reached 3,247.

The mosquito-borne disease has been detected in 74 districts, with the highest number of infections recorded in Gandaki Province (914 cases). Bagmati Province has reported 675 cases, Koshi 568, Lumbini 551, Sudurpaschim 384, Karnali 93, and Madhesh Province 62.

Health experts warn that dengue cases tend to surge during the monsoon season, particularly in the months of Saun, Bhadra, and Asoj, when alternating rainfall and sunshine create favorable breeding conditions for mosquitoes. Doctors have advised people to take precautions against mosquito bites during this period.

With the rising number of cases, the Ministry of Health has urged the public to take part in search and destroy campaigns more actively in their homes, neighborhoods, communities, and workplaces to eliminate mosquito breeding grounds.
